Luminists were the late 19th century painters who emphasised
light in their works. They  painted mostly landscapes with a lot
of dramatic skies. The Hudson River School of Artists grew out
of this movement. This was basically an American art
movement.
Prominent artists of this period were Frederick Kensett, Martin
Johnson Heade and Fitz Hugh Lane.
