| Luminists were the late 19th century painters who emphasised light in their works. They painted mostly landscapes with a lot of dramatic skies. The Hudson River School of Artists grew out of this movement. This was basically an American art movement. Prominent artists of this period were Frederick Kensett, Martin Johnson Heade and Fitz Hugh Lane. |
