Katalin Luczay
I was born in Budapest, Hungary. Since emigrating, I have lived in South America, Canada and
several of the United States.  I majored in Mathematics, minored in Art, and received a BA degree from the
University of Toronto, Canada.
Although soon after graduating college I had to work in the technical fields I never totally gave up on
my love of art. After settling in Hunterdon County New Jersey USA, I was influenced by two local artists
under whom I studied Elinor Moorhouse of Somerset, NJ and R. Woolston Rapp of Ferndale, PA. Later I  had
the opportunity to open my own studio and devote time to develop as an Artist. For the past thirty years, I
have taught art in the Adult Education programs and Senior Citizen centers, as well as at the Somerset Art
Center, and  I have conducted classes in oil painting at my studio for beginners and advanced students of all
ages, from children to seniors.  I find great joy in developing the hidden talents of my students as  I focus on
guiding them in finding their own style and subject interests.  Some of my students are now also exhibiting
their own works, and becoming successful artists in their own right.
Through the years I have exhibited my works in Juried shows such as the Manhattan Art competition
where I received honorary mention for my painting of the Twin Towers, as well as in New Jersey such as the
Mountain art show in Bernardsville, where I have received several honorary mentions and first prizes. My
works have also been exhibited in Galleries in New Hope, PA and Lambertville NJ. My paintings also hang in
private collections in Europe, India, Canada, China, Japan and the US.
urrently I am a member of the New Hope Art League
rrCurrently I am a member of the New Hope Art League, the Hunterdon County Watercolor Society, the Alliance of
Monmouth County , NJ and the Guild of Creative Art at Shrewsbury, NJ.
